ENET-MA4 Ethernet Converter: Real-Time 1553 & ARINC Integration
The ENET-MA4 Ethernet Converter from Alta Data Technologies is a versatile solution designed to “remote” MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC-429/717 bus operations over 10/100/1000 Ethernet LANs. Its compact, rugged, and low-power design makes it ideal for both laboratory testing and field-deployed avionics systems. The device offers 1-2 dual-redundant 1553 channels alongside up to 8 ARINC channels, enabling multi-protocol integration in a single, streamlined package.

Equipped with Alta’s industry-leading 32-bit 1553 FPGA protocol engine, AltaCore™, the ENET-MA4 ensures reliable, high-speed real-time communication. Its full-featured AltaAPI™ software interface allows developers to integrate applications seamlessly, often without code recompilation, providing maximum portability and flexibility. The first channel includes signal capture circuitry for bus troubleshooting, cybersecurity modeling, and detailed monitoring with AltaView analyzer or AltaAPI SDK integration.
Rugged, Lab-Ready Design
The ENET-MA4 is designed for both commercial and rugged deployments. Tested to MIL-810G and MIL-461F standards, the device operates in extended temperature ranges and accepts conditioned 5–30V power input. Its compact “candy-bar” form factor (13.5 x 3.7 x 4 cm, 200 g) allows installation in confined spaces, making it ideal for embedded systems or portable test setups. Optional J1 and J2 cable assemblies simplify system connection and integration.

This Ethernet converter delivers real-time UDP transmit and receive requests with sub-10-microsecond latency. While client system IP/UDP stacks may introduce minor path delays, the ENET-MA4 still offers superior flexibility compared to USB solutions, enabling efficient remote 1553 and ARINC bus control.
