Integrys at CANSEC 2016

CANSEC 2016, Canada’s Global Defence & Security Trade Show, was held in nation’s Capital May 25-26, and the Integrys team was there to take in all the action. Along with partners CohuHD, RGB Spectrum and General Micro Systems (GMS), Integrys showcased military video and computing technologies to many of Canada’s defence industry leaders.

CANSEC is Canada’s largest defence and security show, and was a great place to showcase new technologies such as CohuHD’s RISE 4360HD  video positioner which can withstand hurricane force winds while capturing HD video.

The RGB Spectrum QuadViewUHD, a high performance Ultra High Definition Quad screen splitter capable of displaying up to four sources on a single display in any configuration, had attendees stopping and lingering at the Integrys booth.

Also generating lots of interest was GMS displayed Mil-Spec computers such as the new King Cobra S2U rack mount server. The king Cobra has unmatched performance, scalability and functionality in a 2U envelope.  It is designed to replace as much as 8U worth of traditional Rack Mount computers and peripherals into a 2U space.

CANSEC 2017 planning is already underway, and the Integrys hopes to see familiar and new faces next year. To find out about CohuHD, RGB Spectrum or General Microsystems call or email the Integrys team today.

Welcome!

Message From Our President – Password: ribbetCACP

This year’s theme, “Public Safety in a Digital Age: Real Victims – Real Crime” will help steer discussions towards the growing significance of technology as an evolving threat to public safety in our communities.

And while the conference is centered on professional enrichment, delegates will also have an opportunity to explore the city of Ottawa – considered to be one of the most beautiful capitals in the world.

The city boasts historic architecture, an abundance of open space and parklands, and borders the province of Québec, creating a dynamic cultural atmosphere in which both French and English cultures are deeply rooted. Known for the Parliament Buildings and a vast assortment of museums, Ottawa is home to dynamic restaurants celebrating the city’s cultural diversity. The conference will be held in the stunning Shaw Centre, attached to our host hotel, The Westin Ottawa, and close to shopping in the historic Byward Market.

Matrox Imaging Introduces Next-Generation Smart Camera

Matrox Iris GTR is smaller, faster, more cost-effective and ideal for factory automation applications

MONTREAL, QC CANADA — March 10, 2016 —Matrox® Imaging today announced the Matrox Iris GTR smart camera. Smaller, faster and more cost-effective than its predecessor Iris GT, the new Matrox Iris GTR is designed for systems integrators, machine builders and OEMs of factory automation solutions.

Matrox-Iris-GTR-Smart-CameraIris GTR measures just 75mm x 75mm x 54mm allowing it to fit into tight spaces. It uses On Semiconductor® PYTHON CMOS image sensors with high readout rates and an Intel® Celeron® dual-core embedded processor that allow it to inspect on faster moving lines or perform more inspections in an allotted time. Its IP67-rated housing and M12 connectors make Iris GTR dust-proof, immersion-resistant, extremely rugged and right at home in dirty industrial environments. It comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7 or Linux, giving developers the choice between the two prominent environments for running their vision application software.

“Our customers developing automated visual inspection applications are always looking to increase throughput, boost performance and reduce costs,” said Fabio Perelli, Product Manager, Matrox Imaging. “We’ve taken their feedback and packed the new Matrox Iris GTR with the features they need to tackle demanding projects within tight budgets.”

“At SVIA, our goal is to support manufacturers in their efforts to make themselves more competitive through automation using our standardized, flexible, user-friendly, robotic solutions”, said Matthias Grinnemo, Technical Manager, SVIA. “As a long-time user of Matrox smart cameras, we look forward to the new Iris GTR, which is sure to help us further out commitment to helping customers minimize the cost per part produced in their factories.”

The Iris GTR line offers a choice of monochrome and color image sensors with resolutions from VGA to 5 Mpixels. A dedicated LED intensity control interface simplifies setup and use of the overall machine vision system by enabling integrating illumination regulation via an application’s user interface. A dedicated interface for controlling a Varioptic Caspian auto focus lens also facilitates setup, use and maintenance by enabling focus position adjustments via an application’s user interface. Eight real-time GPIOs with rotary encoder support give Iris GTR the means to tightly follow and interact with fast moving production lines and equipment. In addition, a Gigabit Ethernet interface allows the smart camera to efficiently output data including images over factory networks.

Availability

Matrox Iris GTR will be available to Canadian customers through partner, Integrys beginning in May 2016; initially for running application software developed using the field-proven Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) vision software development kit. It will also be available at a later date with the Matrox Design Assistant flowchart-based integrated development environment (IDE).

PARKING INSPECTOR RECORDS VIOLENT TIRADE ON A REVEAL RS2-X2 BODY CAMERA

A driver has been caught unleashing a physical and verbal attack on a parking inspector in Toowoomba, Australia.

The incident was captured on the parking inspector’s RS2-X2 body camera with the angry driver filmed as he unleashed a tirade of profanity.

“You f—ing touch my car you a—hole,” the man is filmed saying.

“I have the authority and I am more than what you are to touch the car [sic]” the parking inspector replies.

“That’s my f—ing car you w—-r, I own the f—ing thing so don’t tell me you’re qualified to touch my f—ing car,” the angry car owner responded.

The confrontation then escalated with the parking inspector shoved.

A growing number of Queensland councils are turning to body cams to provide evidence in court, to protect inspectors and to defuse potentially ugly incidents.

“I think we all recognise that being a parking attendant is not an easy job,” Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio said.

“It has a forward facing screen which shows the public that they’re being filmed as they approach,” he said.

The front facing screen has been shown to often diffuse and prevent aggressive behaviour.
