NAI’s smart function module architecture integrates dedicated localized processing and FPGA resources to provide higher-level data and signal management capability to off-load the application processor.

This additional functionality includes (function dependent): channel usage initialization and configuration control, Power-on Built-In-Test (PBIT), non-intrusive background Continuous Built-In-Test (CBIT), application Initiated Built-In-Test (IBIT), signal processing, data scaling, closed loop current/voltage/frequency control, wave form generation, PWM control, Real-Time Fast Fourier Transform, hosting customer applications, MATLAB Simulink S-function files, local Watchdog timer monitoring and management, etc.

Each NAI smart I/O module provides a fundamental system architecture that yields the highest degree of Fault Detection Isolation (FDI) and reporting.

Key Features

Single Board Computers

Modular 3U and 6U Single Board Computers with configurable, intelligent multifunction I/O – all on one board

NAI offers a comprehensive line of adaptable, 3U cPCI, 3U VPX and 6U VME, rugged Single Board Computers (SBCs) specifically designed for harsh, SWaP-constrained environments in a range of demanding, embedded computing applications for the defense, commercial aerospace and industrial applications. These Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and modified COTS SBCs are based on the latest Intel®NXP (PowerPC™), and ARM® Cortex®– A9 processors, each delivering unique advantages in deployed applications.

Customized Configurations – Adaptable Architecture

Built upon our unique Configurable Open Systems Architecture™ (COSA®), you can choose from more than 70 smart I/O, communications, and Ethernet switch functions for the highest packaging density and greatest flexibility of any SBC in the industry. NAI will integrate your choice of SBC and I/O functions to quickly meet your rugged systems requirements. This highly adaptive, plug-and-play architecture paves the way for exceptionally configurable hardware that can be used across a broad range of applications offering smarter, faster, smaller systems that Accelerate Your Time-to-Mission™.

Single-Source Efficiencies

Specification to deployment is a seamless experience as NAI provides design, state-of-the-art manufacturing, assembly, and testing from one trusted source.

NAI brings you the Best of Both Worlds: Custom Solutions — using Standard COTS Products.

Key Benefits

Our massively Configurable Open Systems Architecture™ (COSA®) gives you the most modular, agile and rugged COTS portfolio of embedded smart modules, I/O boards, Single Board Computers, Power Supplies and Ruggedized Systems of its kind. All are pre-engineered to work together today and be easily changed, reused or re-purposed down the road. We’ve used FPGAs and SoCs to create smart modules that enable you to rapidly create configurable mission systems – while reducing or eliminating SBC overhead.

COSA meets a wide range of complex and time-critical requirements in a distributed, intelligent, software-driven architecture that allows you to rethink the way you engineer power-critical and I/O-intensive mission systems.
